The philosophy of the Cardinal Hayes Theology Department is that, as a Catholic school, we are entrusted with instructing, nurturing, and cultivating the faith life of our scholars. The Theology Department is responsible for educating our young men in the doctrines and principles of the Catholic faith. It involves teaching the gentlemen about the faith's doctrines and dogmas in a formal academic setting while providing opportunities to deepen and expand their faith through various religious activities.

By exemplifying what a faith-based life involves, we empower young men and promote the Catholic identity of the Cardinal Hayes community. The community endeavors to embody the symbol above our school entrance, the statue of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. We care for Jesus’ flock and guide them back to the Father when they stray.

We adopt Pope Francis’s words to the youth of the world:
“Each of us has a meaning in life. We all have something to give, and we must all open ourselves to receive from others and extend a hand. Let us respond to the call to build bridges, and not walls. Create a Culture of Encounter, bringing together young people through an education that generates Meaning.”

“Live Jesus In Our Hearts, Forever!”
