The Mission of the Cardinal Hayes Science Department is to provide students with a superior education, within a Catholic framework, in the areas of biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and science methodology. Guided by the Next Generation Science Standards, we strive to prepare students for the rigors of college and science-based careers. By incorporating the three dimensions of science education into our teaching (science practices, crosscutting concepts and disciplinary core ideas), we strive to help our students become critical thinkers and skilled at complex problem solving. We expect our students to challenge themselves and question how science can be studied to further enhance their lives and their own education.
