President's Easter Message

Dr. Michael Carey
See, winter is past, the rains are over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth. The season of glad songs has come. Song of Songs 2: 11-12

This message of joy and hope has been used throughout Catholic history, often following sustained periods of turmoil or oppression.  And they are apt for Easter 2021, and for Cardinal Hayes High School.  During Holy Week, we can see the fleeting nature of human success and survival itself in Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem and very soon after, His trial and execution.  Ultimately, however, we look to the Resurrection.  There is new life and a second spring.  We believe this to be true at Cardinal Hayes High School.

As Cardinal Hayes High School heads toward its 80th anniversary in September, we have endured one of the most difficult periods in school history.  Yet, we have emerged from this most difficult of winters.  This Easter, we celebrate deliverance from doubt, fear, and destruction.  We enjoy the victory that Easter always brings.  We look to new life, hope, and a forward-looking faith for our students, families, faculty, friends, and alumni.  Your endurance and persistence allow us to continue the life-affirming and hope-fulfilling work of Cardinal Hayes High School.  We thank you and wish you a very blessed and happy Easter from the entire Cardinal Hayes family.
