As some parts of the world gradually reopens and countries attempt to transition back to normalcy, the momentum of travel to Africa (which slowed due to COVID-19) may still take some time to recover. However, one travel influencer and entrepreneur has been able to rise through the chaos and ascend in becoming a focal leader in the back to Africa travel movement.

Rashad McCrorey is an American entrepreneur and writer. In October 2016, McCrorey started Africa Cross-Culture a back to Africa travel company organizing trips to Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda. McCrorey has been in the West African country of Ghana since February 27, 2020 due to the pandemic. After unexpectedly choosing to self-quarantine in Ghana rather than returning home to United States, McCrorey’s notoriety began as he publicly shared his story of being an American choosing to self-quarantine in Ghana.
