Celebrate Black History Month

Here at Cardinal Hayes, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month. Be on the lookout for content as we highlight Black pioneers in history.

  • Bernard A. Harris Jr., a former NASA astronaut who on February 9th, 1995 became the first African American to perform an extra-vehicular activity, during the second of his two Space Shuttle flights.
  • Today on February 19th, 2021, we honor the 100th Fighter Squadron of the Tuskegee Airmen. Serving in WWII and the Cold War the 100th lived up to their motto of "Red Tails...We Deliver" as they served as bomber escort in Italy.
The Mission of Cardinal Hayes High School, a community based in Roman Catholic values, is to inspire diverse young men of the New York City metropolitan area to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. We will accomplish this goal by encouraging students' spiritual and intellectual growth through a rigorous college preparatory program of academics, extra-curricular activities, and personal discipline.
