The global pandemic has impacted all of our lives. Our inner-city student families at Cardinal Hayes High
School have been especially hurt by job loss and deteriorated local economic conditions compared to more affluent families, neighborhoods, and schools.
Cardinal Hayes is a lean operation and our tuition of $7,100 covers a fraction of the real cost of $13,000 to educate a student. Many of our Hayes students come from single parent households who have looked to the school for financial assistance over the years. This is especially true now, as their finances have been additionally strapped due to the pandemic.
Now, more than ever, the importance of a Cardinal Hayes High School education cannot be overstated.
Cardinal Hayes consistently outperforms local public and charter schools in terms of graduation rates, college enrollment, and New York State Regents scores. In the current tumultuous climate of America, Cardinal Hayes continues to offer the safe, structured, and academically challenging environment required for the future success of our students. This is the hallmark of a Hayes education.
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we are proud to share that we successfully opened Hayes this past September and have instituted the following:
- A hybrid model, integrating remote learning, using innovative distance learning technology.
- Two generous Hayes Alumni Families have provided students an additional 400 Chromebooks –
getting us within striking distance of a 1:1 computing model for the first time in our history.
- Opening of our Athletics program with 7 on 7 football, cross country, and fall baseball competitions.
But we still need more financial resources so we can continue to instill life-long learning and develop future leaders. Hayes has incurred significant and unexpected expenses due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Similar to schools everywhere, we have instituted new and costly safety procedures. We have also been inundated with requests for additional financial tuition assistance.
Now, more than ever, and on behalf of these incredible young men at Hayes, thank you in advance for your gift and for always supporting our Hayesmen!
Up Hayes and All Its Loyal Men!
