Parent Advisory Committee
ARTICLE I
NAME
A. This organization shall be known as the Parent Advisory Committee of Cardinal Hayes High School, herein referred to as PAC. An elected group known, as “The Executive Council” shall govern the Committee.
B. The Executive Council will consist of:
- One (1) Chairperson
- Two (2) Co-vice chairs
- One (1) Recording secretary
- One (1) Treasurer
- One (1) Corresponding Secretary
C. The Executive Council is responsible for the planning and coordination of all PAC sponsored programs and activities.
ARTICLE II
MISSION
A. The PAC of Cardinal Hayes High School is an organization established to provide parents/guardians with an opportunity to become more effective administrators of their son’s education.
B. PAC is a formal parent body, recognized by Cardinal Hayes High School’s Faculty and Administration. *PAC has been established to work with school administration in planning; organizing and implementing specified school goals.
C. PAC provides parents/guardians an opportunity and forum to communicate collectively with faculty and administration, and have input into various aspects of their son’s high school experience.
D. PAC provides parents/guardians a formal means to network amongst themselves for the benefit of their son’s.
*PAC is not an administrative or supervisory committee and will not become involved in the daily operation of the school.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
A. All Parents and Guardians of registered students are members of PAC and can participate in any and all open meetings.
B. For the purpose of holding office an active member is defined as a member who has attended six (6) meetings during the given school year.
C. Parents and Guardians of recent alumni can participate as Associate Members of PAC, but cannot hold office or vote.
D. Meetings are usually held on the first Saturday of the month from September through June.
E. The Principal is an Ex-officio member of PAC. The Principal will appoint one or two faculty members of the PAC.
ARTICLE IV
ELECTIONS
A. The Officers of PAC shall be elected for a two (2) year term.
B. Officers of PAC may be elected to two consecutive terms, but no more than two.
C. Elections shall be held each year, by the third Thursday after Easter but not before Easter of the election year.
D. Elections shall be run and supervised by an election committee, which shall consist of two (2) PAC members, one (1) member of the Student Advisory Committee and one (1) member of the Faculty.
E. The Election Committee will be responsible for nominations. The Election Committee will distribute and process nominations forms, and submit the names of nominees to PAC one month prior to elections.
In the event that there are no accepted nominations for any given office, the current officer's) may remain in office for another year.
F. Nominees must be active members of PAC [as defined under membership].
ARTICLE V
DUES
A. Under consideration – As PAC develops and grows it may be necessary to establish reasonable dues for the purpose of covering anticipated expenses [i.e. mailings, refreshments, workshops, etc...]
B. Dues are encouraged but will not be mandatory out of consideration to each family’s budget.
ARTICLE VI
SUB-COMMITTEES
A. As needed for events, projects, and upon request sub-committees will be convened. These committees will be led by a chairperson (voluntary) and will operate for the duration of the planning and execution of the specified event, /project/task.
ARTICLE VII
AMENDMENTS
A. At such time that it may be necessary to amend any portion of these by-laws, the member requesting amendment to an article may make a motion (at any monthly meeting) to have the change place on the agenda for the next months meeting. At that subsequent meeting, the item will be brought to the floor for discussion and for a vote. For the amendment to pass, a majority of assembled PAC members must vote in favor.
B. Roberts Rules of Order to be followed when a note or proposal is made from PAC to the Principal.
