Our Cardinal Hayes Academic All Stars won Round 1 of the MSG Varsity Bronx Challenge in a hard fought victory over Pelham Prep's veteran-led team.

The exciting battle of wits will be televised on MSG Varsity Network on December 30, 2011, at 6:30 pm.

Our team, led by student captain William Lamb, will compete in Round 2 sometime in February or March; final dates will be announced on December 11, 2011. If the team wins Round 2 it will immediately compete in Round 3 on the same day.

The team also adopted a new mascot, "The Maltese Chicken," in homage to two team members' comic and memorial blunder during competition, which, needless to say, did not hamper their march to triumph, but definitely lightened the mood and entertained the entire studio audience and most of the production staff! As the saying goes, everyone falls down; men get up. Up Hayes!
