Memorial - Mr. Arthur Guy
Mr. Arthur “Artie” Guy ‘44
Alumni Director
1980 – 1999
The Alumni Office is dedicated to the Memory of Artie who, with his unfailing devotion to Hayes and his profound love of the
students, was the embodiment of all that makes a Hayesman!
He was and will forever remain
"Mr. Hayes"
On June 29, 1999, our beloved Artie Guy fell asleep in the Lord. Artie first came to Hayes in the Fall of 1941 as a freshman. During his years at Hayes, he participated in athletics on the football and basketball teams. He was a brilliant athlete and
was on the Hayes 1944 basketball team, the year they won the All City Championship. After graduating from Hayes, Artie
enlisted in the Navy for the duration of World War II. Upon his return from the service, he attended Iona College for a brief
period.
In 1980, Artie came back to his alma mater, Cardinal Hayes High School, to help out in the Alumni Office. For 19 years, he
worked tirelessly for the good of Hayes and for the furtherance of its mission of Catholic education. He was a devoted
husband, a friend to all, a superb athlete, a devout Catholic and the quintessential Hayesman. He will be greatly missed.
May He Rest in Peace
